Our History
Secure Vision Systems was initially set up to support the PSNI during the rapid expansion of the North
Belfast Interface CCTV scheme in the spring of 2002. Commissioned by the Northern Ireland Security
Minister the scheme was part of the government's concerted effort to dramatically reduce the violent
confrontations between Nationalist and Loyalist gangs throughout the North of the City at this time.
The purposed solution was to install over 45 PTZ cameras at and along the interface, to monitor the build
up of crowds and dispatch officers before a full scale riot ensued. The cameras had to be able to withstand
the challenges of this very volatile environment, standard “shoe box” units would not fit the bill. At this
time Forward Vision CCTV had just started to sell their revolutionary designed armoured ball PTZ camera the
“Metal Mickey”.
It was the coming together of Secure Vision Systems and Forward Vision CCTV that gave both companies
the market breakthrough they sought, and the opportunity to promote the camera throughout Ireland.
During the first year of trading (2002) Secure Vision Systems promoted and secured orders for over 50 Mic1-300
cameras with the list of prestigious clients including:
• The Prison Service of Northern Ireland – 1 unit supplied for installation on a riot response vehicle.
• The Police Service of Northern Ireland – 45 units supplied for installation along the sectarian interface
in North Belfast.
• Dublin City Council – 13 units supplied and installed for traffic monitoring.
