An Garda Síochána - CCTV
In spring of 2007 we won the tender to install up to 32 Forward Vision “Metal Mickey” (Mic1-400) cameras for the An Garda Síochána public safety schemes in the town-lands of Ballyfermot and Clondalkin, Dublin.
Prior to installation works commencing our project management team worked on detailed GANTT charts, planning applications, ESB power requests and submitted site drawings to the respective road works control and council road opening licensing departments. Within 8 weeks planning approval was received from Dublin City and South Dublin County councils.
To keep the project costs down the client wished to utilise the latest microwave transmission technology Coded Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (COFDM) to bring real time full frame images back to the Garda stations.
The product of choice was the Mel Digital Microvision unit, which had only just completed prototype trials. To provide the compact solution we required, Mel were requested to install the telemetry receiver unit within the Microvision enclosure. This was successfully achieved.
Antenna arrays and boosters were installed on Garda telecoms masts at varying heights to maximise the signal inputs strengths, and offer redundancy within the system design.
Other equipment installed included the FASTAR real time DVR manufactured by Visimetrics, with images been recorded to RAID ONE storage devices. Matrix, keyboards and protocol interface equipment were supplied by Synectics, and Wharton GPS clocks provided time synchronization across the networked equipment.
We continue to provide on going comprehensive repair and maintenance support for both systems.
